Music For Young Children

Surafel and Elshadai are in the Music for Young Children program. They take their classes in a small neighboring town of Stockholm.

In this program we go to class once a week and then it is expected that the kids practice up to 5 times during the week.

The kids learn their different notes by learning the animals on Critter Avenue for example:
C - Creepy Crawler Critter C
D - Dinosauer
E - Elegant Edith
F - Fireman Fred
G - Grumpy Groundhog
A - Amy Anteater
B - Becky

Then they learn quarter notes are called hops, half notes are turtles, etc.
Each week we learn something new!!

At Christmas time the kids were expected to play two pieces for their Christmas Concert!!!
I think we have about 4 classes left and then we are done for the summer.... The program is 4 years long. I still can't believe how much they have learned over the year. After Christmas we started to learn the notes in Bass Clef. And now they are learning to play songs that have notes in the Treble Clef and Bass Clef. I will leave you with some pictures from their Christmas Concert.
